Reflections and looking ahead.

This year’s examination process reaffirmed the importance of sustained, structured preparation. Our students faced a variety of challenges, and we noted several key trends that contributed to their success:

  • The importance of written examination practice: Many of our students reported that the written components of the 11+ exams were particularly rigorous this year. One candidate for St Paul’s Girls School mentioned that the comprehension passage was much longer and denser than expected, requiring a strong ability to sustain concentration. This highlights the value of regular written practice, both at home and in structured settings.
  • The benefits of starting early: Candidates who began their journey with us in the 10+ cycle consistently performed well. The gradual approach allowed for deeper understanding and long-term retention of key concepts. One pupil who secured an offer from City of London School for Girls credited her steady build-up of skills over two years as the reason she felt calm and confident in her final exams.
  • The importance of specialised reasoning preparation: Many schools now incorporate intricate reasoning tests into their admissions process. This year, our reasoning workshops played a crucial role in helping students tackle unfamiliar question types with confidence. Whilst electronic reasoning platforms provide useful practice, having structured teaching of verbal and non-verbal reasoning techniques has proven invaluable. One of our students aiming for Westminster School noted that without targeted reasoning sessions, they would have struggled with the abstract logic section of the test.

As we reflect on this year’s success, it is clear that a steady and well-structured approach to preparation continues to be the key to strong results. Many of our students benefited from long-term engagement with our programmes and workshops, with structured practice and results-backed guidance making a noticeable difference.

Looking ahead, we remain committed to supporting future candidates through carefully planned preparation. Whether through weekly classes, mock exams, or holiday workshops, ensuring students build confidence and familiarity with the exam format continues to be at the heart of our approach.
